Starting point
FC Bayern Basketball has developed significantly in sporting, commercial and organisational terms in recent years. As the organisation grew, so did the demands on leadership and internal communication. At the same time, a dedicated People & Culture function was established to build sustainable HR structures and support leaders in communicating clearly and consistently.
Challenge
Growth creates new roles and interfaces, while day-to-day work around match days and short-notice changes remains highly dynamic. To ensure collaboration did not depend solely on individual habits, the organisation needed shared standards: How are decisions and responsibilities clarified? When is a meeting useful? How can different perspectives be included? And how can critical feedback be communicated clearly and respectfully?
Solution
As part of a two-day offsite, Bobineau Communications designed the workshop “Communication that leads” for FCBB leaders. The first part focused on designing meetings around a clear purpose, defined roles and binding outcomes. Using typical situations from FCBB’s day-to-day work, participants practised keeping discussions focused and bringing decisions to a clear conclusion.
The second focus was respectful feedback. Leaders reflected on concrete conversation scenarios and developed shared guidelines for communication that is clear on the issue while remaining respectful towards the person.
Results
The workshop created a shared foundation for meetings, decision-making and feedback conversations. Leaders gained practical methods they can apply directly in their day-to-day work.
At the same time, the format supports the People & Culture function in translating leadership communication into consistent structures. As the organisation develops, so does a shared understanding of how leadership and communication should work at FC Bayern Basketball.
